Volunteer Job Descriptions
Volunteers are needed for shifts around the clock while the exhibit is on display. The Wall That Heals is considered on display when the set up begins. Typically, the shifts are four hours each, water and snacks will be provided in the Volunteer tent which will be visible and accessible to all. Every position will have you engaged with our guests and having empathy for their needs and emotions. Enjoy the experience and know that you are making a difference in the lives of many.
- Setup and Breakdown
- Assisting with the assembly and disassembly of the wall replica and mobile Education Center. This is an all day, heavy lifting, lots of walking and bending type of job. Please inquire directly with us to join this group. Set up will be Tuesday January 13, 2026, starting at 8:00 am until 3:00 pm, sometimes earlier and lunch will be provided. Breakdown of the wall replica is on Monday January 19, 2026, at 2:00 pm and will be finished by sunset.

- Information Center
- Under this tent you will provide assistance to our visitors with identifying the location of their loved one(s)on the wall and sharing additional information about the exhibit and our programs. This is a seated position.
- Greeters and Visitor Guides
- Welcoming visitors and directing them to different parts of the exhibit.
- This is a position that will require walking/standing for most of the shift.
- Visitor Assistance
- Here you will be assisting visitors in finding names on the wall, using the name directory, as well as the telephone app. You will also be helping with name rubbings, talking and listening to many stories. This position will involve a lot of standing and walking as well as some bending and stretching.
- Mobile Education Center Support
- Around the education center you will be answering questions about the historical exhibits, the time line of the was as well as artifacts of items from the war and others left at the wall. The Education Cener also includes digital displays of our hometown heroes and our servicemembers in the In Memory program. You will receive information in advance and if interested will be trained to lead some tours.
- Parking & Mobility assistance:
- This job will require standing and walking and using golf carts to help visitors with mobility issues travel to and from the exhibit. Additionally, you will be directing cars in and out of the parking lot, keeping the flow organized with layout for easy access and safety as the priority.
You are requested to attend a Volunteer Training Session on Tuesday January 13, 2026 at 6:00 pm. Notices and reminders will be sent to you via Sign Up Genius. If you are under 18, you will need to be accompanied by an adult.
